Director of Pharmacy
The Pharmacy Director is responsible and accountable for providing Uncompromised Safety, Superior quality, Memorable Patient/Customer Experiences, and Financial Stewardship, The Pharmacy Director, Tertiary Hospital, is responsible for overseeing all medication storage and preparation within Holmes Regional Medical Center. The Pharmacy Director ensures that the pharmacy provides optimal services; meets all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements, and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes, and standards of Health First.
•Works diligently to increasingly engage, provide tools of engagement, and raise issues of engagement with Lead Pharmacist and/or Supervisors.
•Oversees all tertiary hospital pharmacy personnel. Recruits, interviews, promotes, disciplines, and terminates pharmacy staff.
•Assists in the development of job descriptions and performance standards. Evaluates and counsels staff on their performance.
•Ensures maintenance of an adequate medication supply and ensures the integrity of the medication supply at the tertiary hospital.
•Ensures strict control and accountability for medications dispensed to patients.
•Ensures adequate control, procurement of and documentation of controlled substances.
•Ensures applicable CE records and licensure are maintained in department files.
•Ensures compliance with health system policies and procedures that apply to pharmacy services. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
•Maintains current pharmacist and consultant licensure.
•Assists Division Director with the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the pharmacy that supports the mission and goals of the organization.
•Oversees, implements, and maintains a program that improves the quality of pharmacy services and supports the quality improvement plan of the organization.
•Supervises and participates in the development and presentation of orientation, education, and training programs to the pharmacy, medical, nursing, and other staffs.
•Establishes productive, collaborative relationships with staff members and within the community.
•Sustains professional competence and promotes development through participation in inservices, workshops, seminars, and professional organizations.
•Assists Division Director with preparation of pharmacy budget annually.
•Assists Division Director with justification of all expenses exceeding budgeted targets.
•Works with Lead Pharmacist and/or supervisors to prepare work schedules and monitors workload statistics. Maintains as appropriate staffing level.
Education, training, experience:
•Must be a graduate of an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy. Pharm D degree is strongly preferred.
•Must have a current Florida license.
•Must have a Florida Consultant License
•7-10 years or more hospital experience required.
•5 years or more of pharmacy supervisory experience required.
•Hours may be long and irregular; includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary
